Event Information
On 22nd October 2011, participants will be involved in a workshop as well as a term-based competition. THe objective of the events is to give youths the opportunites to leaan more about the intricacies of photograpy as well as nuture their passion for the arts to build cohesiveness among the students from different schools. Convention and Competition
Participants will be separated into groups of 4

Grouping will be revealed at the start of the events.

An inspiring, informative and visually arresting talk by a well-known professional photographer, who would share with us his valuable experience and his technical expertise as a professional photographer.

Each participant will have 1 free A4 photo-print as well as receive a certificate of participation.

Each group has to submit a portfolio of 4 photos, one from each member, based of the theme of the competition. All submissions have to reach Anglo-Chinese School by 1pm on the same day.

Judging will be based on the extent of how the group has interpreted the theme through their members' photographs, on the baisi of flow, compostition, arrangement, and other similar elements.

Prizes
Prizes will be presented to the top 3 groups. There are also 2 consolation prizes.
Canon is the proud sponser of the top 3 prizes.
1st Prize: Canon EOS 1100D Kit (EFS 18-55IS-II)
2nd Prize: Canon Powershot A3300
3rd Prize: Canon Powershot A2200
The two consolation prizes are $50 x 4 Cathay photo vouchers (per group)

Eligibility
- Contestants must be aged 13 - 20 and be currently studying and residing in Singapore,
- All participants must be equipped with a digital camera

Deadlines
Participants can register online at sypc2011.blogspot.com
Registration will be closed on 1st Octcober.
All participants must attend the Convention on 22nd October.
Registrations opens at 0800 hours and ends at 0845 hours.
The events will conclude at 1700 hours

All participants must submit a hard copy of the idemnity form, which can be found below, and get it duty signed by their parent/guardian.

Judging Criteria
1. Relevance to theme 
- The photographs submitted must be relevant to the theme. 
If the pictures do not reflect the theme directly, the write-up must be able to clearly explain it. 
30% for this section


2. Creativity 

- Interpretation of theme. 
- Presentation of ideas. 

Composition of the photographs. 
30% for this section
3. Technical Competence

- Focusing, lighting and other aspects of execution.
20%  for this section

4. Quality of write-up 

- The write-up is compulsory.
- It must explain photographs in relation to the theme.
- It should be an interpretation of the what the photographs represent.
20% for this section


Rules & Regulations

1. Participants must be aged between 13 and 20.

2. Each participant must be a Singapore Citizen, a Permanent Resident or a foreign student currently studying and residing in Singapore.

3. Each participant must be a student in a local government or independent school, or an MOE-recognised International School.

4. Each participant must submit the indemnity form upon registration on the event date. Students without an indemnity form will not be allowed to participate.

5. Participants must use a digital camera during the competition. The resolution of the camera should be a minimum of 3 Megapixels or more. Camera phones are not allowed.

6. Storage formats accepted are CF/SD/MMC/XD/SM/MS. Participants using other formats must supply their own relevant adaptors/drives, which are USB-compatible.

7. Participants can use any form of transport at their own expense during the competition. However, they must stay within Singapore and their group.

8. Each group must comprise 4 members.

9. Participants must register online, stating the name of their partner in the registration form. Random pairs of participants will be grouped together to form a group of four. In the case of a solo registration, the organizing committee will arrange for the participants to be in a group of four.

10. Each group will be required to submit 4 photographs interpreting the theme as well as one photo-essay comprising of no more than 100 words.

11. All digital photographs submitted must be new and original and must be taken during the course of the competition. Entries composed must be original, authentic and unpublished material. Participants, who submit images that were shot at an earlier time, or shot by proxies, will be disqualified. The 1-free-print offer provided will be used to print submitted photos in exchange for completed survey forms which will be given to each participant upon registration on the day itself.

12. Photos may be edited with any photo-editing software for minor touch-ups which do not distort the photograph (at most cropping).

13. Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and NYAA reserve the right to keep, publish and distribute the photos submitted for the SYPC.

14. The organisers are not responsible for any lost, late, misdirected or incomplete entries. 

15. The organisers reserve the right to change the terms, rules, regulations and criteria of the SYPC at any time.

16. The organisers will not be liable for any damage or injuries that accompany or result from your participation in this events.
